I’ve worked in Financial Services and in particular consumer advice for several years both in the United Kingdom and the United States. In both countries the need for wider adoption of financial advice is known as the advice gap. The reason typically cited for the advice gap is the failure of the market to provide financial advice for any but the already wealthy. From my experience is not the entire reason. I know many great advisors who help clients with no minimum investment amount. I believe the major reason for the advice gap is the industry’s failure to clearly explain why everyone can benefit from high quality appropriate financial advice. The result is most people don’t think they need advice until it’s far t0o late and when they do finally take advice it’s from their parent’s advisor despite having entirely different needs from that of their parents.
Trusted Advisor was created to help address the advice gap. We aim to start the conversations between those who need quality advice and those we trust to give advice, hence the name. We’re currently an invite only platform and only invite advisors we’ve personally verified are qualified and capable of giving advice.
